Amit M. Patel, MD, MS, MBA, FAAD

Dr. Amit M. Patel, Founder and Medical Director of Gemini Dermatology, is a native Texan from Houston, where he was born, raised, and still resides. He graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in Molecular and Cell Biology and earned his medical degree at the Chicago Medical School, where he graduated as a Board of Trustees Scholar and was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society—the highest academic distinction awarded to U.S. medical graduates.

Dr. Patel completed his Internal Medicine Preliminary Residency Program at the University of Illinois - Chicago and his Dermatology residency at the University of California - Irvine, serving as Chief Resident of curriculum development. Throughout his residency training, he developed a passion for dermatologic surgery and reconstruction, including Mohs Micrographic Surgery for skin cancer removal.

With his vast experience in dermatology, Dr. Patel travels from Houston to provide specialized care to underserved areas, delivering cutting-edge treatments for a wide range of skin conditions. He specializes in early skin cancer detection and treatment, as well as care for eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, acne, hair loss, and vitiligo in both pediatric and adult populations.

Of note, Dr. Patel is also an expert in dermoscopy (total body imaging/digital epiluminescence microscopy DELM), utilizing this technique to detect a high proportion of skin cancers at the earliest stages, resulting in life-saving outcomes for his patients.

Driven by a passion for enhancing his patients’ self-esteem and overall quality of life, Dr. Patel is also committed to providing exceptional aesthetic and cosmetic care. Through his extensive training and experience in Orange County, California, he has refined his unique blend of medical expertise, surgical skill, and artistic creativity. His expertise in this area spans a range of services, including facial contouring and rejuvenation with soft tissue fillers and neuromodulators like Botox, as well as chemical peels, sclerotherapy for varicose and spider veins, laser treatments, and PRP hair restoration. Through his work, Dr. Patel aims to empower individuals to unlock their full potential and radiate confidence and beauty.

By establishing Gemini Dermatology, Dr. Patel aims to bridge the gap in dermatologic care for underserved areas in need of comprehensive, high-quality dermatology care, providing personalized attention and state-of-the-art treatments to improve the health and well-being of his patients.

Dr. Patel is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, a Fellow of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and a member of the American Society for Mohs Surgery.

Beyond his dermatology practice, Dr. Patel enjoys traveling, running, weight-lifting, spending quality time with family, and is an avid sports fan (Go Astros!). He also holds an MBA from Rice University.
