Epidermal Inclusion Cysts (EIC)

  • Benign, non-cancerous growths

  • Closed sacs filled with keratin and skin cells

  • Formed by trapped skin cells, often due to:

    • Blocked hair follicles or oil glands

    • Skin trauma

    • Genetics

  • Typically found on face, neck, trunk, arms, and legs

Characteristics

  • Small, round, or oval bump

  • Firm or soft

  • May become inflamed or infected

Treatment

  • Surgical excision

  • Drainage and antibiotics (if infected)
