Gene Stancut, MD, FAAD

BOARD-CERTIFIED DERMATOLOGIST

Dr. Gene Stancut is a board-certified dermatologist and a fellowship trained board-certified Mohs micrographic skin cancer surgeon.  A native of New York City, Dr. Stancut first fell in love with Texas while serving in the United States Air Force.  His formal education and training include:

Dr. Stancut is passionate about delivering the highest standard of care for his skin cancer patients, focusing on early detection and complete removal utilizing Mohs micrographic surgery.  Mohs is a specialized method for the removal of skin cancer that combines surgery with same day microscopic margin analysis.  It offers the highest potential for cure for skin cancers – up to a 99% success rate – even if the skin cancer has been previously treated by another method. Mohs surgery achieves this high cure rate because the margins of the cancer are completely examined during the surgery.

Mohs surgery is recommended for skin cancers that are located on cosmetically sensitive areas, such as the head, face, neck and hands as well as skin cancers that have recurred after being treated with another method.  Because Mohs surgery is an outpatient procedure performed with local anesthetic patients can take their normal medications and eat prior to their surgery.

Dr. Stancut is a Diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology, Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, Fellow of the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery, and a member of the American College of Mohs Surgeons (ACMS).

Dr. Stancut is fluent in Romanian. In his spare time, he enjoys hiking, traveling, and practicing Spanish.
